Volunteer Policy
- There is a minimum requirement of two (2) shifts per family for players in the program per season. In addition to the two required shifts during the season, there is a requirement to work one (1) shift either during an End of Season tournament hosted by New Holstein or during the New Holstein Booster Day. Volunteer opportunities include: Coaching, joining the Board, Umpiring, Concession Stand, and other opportunities that may arise during the course of the year.
- During registration there will be an opportunity for families to “Buy Out” of the Volunteer Requirements for a $100 fee. That fee can be added on automatically during the registration process and the volunteer requirements will be waived for that family. Any family not completing their required volunteer hours prior to the end of the league season (unless receiving prior approval from the NHBSA board) will have the $100 fee charged to their Registration Payment Method on August 1st of that season. Families paying for registration with Cash or Check will be required to include a $100 deposit which will be held until the volunteer requirement has been completed.
- An online volunteer sign up site will be used for scheduling the volunteer shifts. A link can be found on the NHBSA website: http://www.newholsteinbsa.com. It is the volunteer’s responsibility to fulfill their hours. If for any reason they cannot make the times they are scheduled for, it is the volunteer’s responsibility to find a replacement. Should no one show up for the hours that the volunteer was scheduled, the family will not receive credit for that shift.
- Should the game(s) run long or help is still needed, volunteers are asked to stay and help even if it were to exceed the original scheduled time.
- In the event a game(s) is canceled due to weather and/or other unforeseen circumstances, the families originally scheduled to work will be required to find another open spot to work.
- Volunteer Qualifications: Volunteers must be 18 years or older to qualify for credit toward the volunteer hours. Due to alcohol being served, no one under the age of 16 will be allowed in the concession stand. An exception to the age limit may be granted if youth volunteer hours are required and approved in advance by the NHBSA Board.
- Volunteer Exemptions: Traveling Team Head Coaches and NHBSA Board Members.
- If there is an instance where families cannot fulfill their volunteer hours please notify a NHBSA Board Member as soon as possible to work out an arrangement.
